Monthly Design Challenge / March 2017

Dear friends,

The spring is already come! Mother nature is waking up, everything is borning again, grass, trees, flowers...
I think the better topic for the March would be "NEWBORN"

Everything representing this word is acceptable:
1. babies of human or animal,
2. pacifiers, feeding bottles, diapers
3. birds and insects hatching from the eggs or cocoons
4. Every other idea representing this word in figurative meaning is also acceptable.

Rules as usual:
1 single sheet of SQUARE paper
2 no cut, no glue

And some special rules:
1 single models only (no composition)
2 no painting (but color change would be great)

Hope to see a lot of models this month!

Adam Origami will judge this month and select the next topic for April.

I've got a great idea for this already. I can't wait to design it.

Very promising beginning Baltorigamist :) I am impatiently waiting for your model!

Hmmm... Just realised that after my "pregnancy tests" this subject looks quite strange

I designed something a few years ago that fits this category really well. I've been wanting to redesign it for some time. Would that be a valid entry? If so, how different from my previous design should it be to count?

I'd love to enter this month, but I don't want to inadvertently break any rules in doing so.

According to the rules of all monthly design challenges "it has to be your own design, specifically created for this challenge."

But if your model is not published somewhere else before and you are going to redesign it for this topic, I think, why not?

Here's my entry (very early, especially for me!!)

Origami Hatching Snakelet:

More info on Flickr. The snake and egg are from the same square of paper (no cuts or glue as always, natural color change).

P.S. - What has happened to the second round of the ODT? We need to set a deadline soon, or I fear that this ODT will fall apart :( .

Wow! A lot of people experience strange feelings about snakes. Rather negative then positive. But your baby snake looks so sweet! He seems so curious about this life! Great entry Tankoda! Congratulations on this emotional model!

Thank you! Maybe he can help convince the world that snakes aren't so bad after all!

Does anyone know how to contact Adam Origami? I've sent him a private message and even E-mail but no response. He has to judge this challenge and also choose the subject for April...

He is not at home actually and can't go here yet we just have to wait a little ;-)

I say we shouldn't wait for definning April's challenge, it is 7th already. The judging of March's can wait.

I propose something geometric, but a truly geometric model (a rabbit with some leftover paper shown as a square would not qualify) made from a single sheet (regular polygon). So boxes, tatos, vases, even abstract models would do.

Who's with me?

Why don't just ask Ana?

And make it a rule, that if the winner does not show up to start the new challenge, Ana or one of the moderators will judge and start the new challenge within the first 5 days of the month.

Maybe we could propose a number of topics and vote or something. And something needs to be done to keep the ODT going, as well. :/
