Dear friends and colleagues!!!
This long-awaited moment has come.
It's time to reveal the results of the Seventh International Origami Olympiad. I am proud to congratulate you on behalf of all judges!
This year's works were performed with such professionalism that until the very end all members of the Jury had absolutely no idea about who was going to win.
The challenge wasn't easy: only 72 of 190 2nd round contestants managed to complete all 11 tasks.
Medals:
By tradition our Olympiad features the medal system. Essentially, each judge chooses the best works in every nomination and rewards them with bonus points equal to 30%, 20% or 10% of maximum score for a given task. Works with the highest final score are then awarded with gold, silver and bronze medals.
Team rankings:
Apart from the personal contest there is also the team ranking which considers all participants from the same country as a team. Their medals are summed: a gold medal brings 3 points to a team, a silver brings 2 points and a bronze brings 1 point.
And finally I remind you that all the jury members are mere humans and they can make mistakes. So it is perfectly natural to disagree with some of the jury's decisions.
If you have any questions or suggestions about the Olympiad, feel free to write them here or in the official group on Flickr, Facebook, Twitter.
Please post the photos of your olympiad works there.
