the CP for "Frustrated" can be found in Jeremy Shafer's book. It's called "Monolithic Rubblestone Boulder."

Though the rendition of it Wolf posted looks a bit different -- Wolf, did you blintz it first?

No, the crease pattern is quite different. The crease length distribution of the monolithic boulder follows a 1/f distribution, whereas this one's closer to 1/f^2.

Ah, I see. That explains why yours is more angular.

It also leaves little doubt that is sufficiently varied from the original to qualify for the contest.

FEAR

FEAR

The little bird tries desperately to escape the claw of the predator!

The combined large claw and little bird are folded from one 8 by 16 uncut unglued rectangle

I don't know if this was planned, but the curves of the necks outline a heart.

Plan for Love Birds

Post by firstfold »

The heart curve was definately planned. Initially, I had the beaks touching, but this masked the characteristics of the birds so I folded them apart. I changed from a blue (water) to a pink background to accentuate the heart shape of the model.

Here is a little something that I whipped up while I was waiting in the airport after PCOC

REMEMBERANCE

Image

It was, after all the weekend of Rememberance day.

The photo doesn't do it justice, but what can you expect from a cheap webcam?

i'm gonna try for putting diagrams for this in the 2008 christmas book, but I'll have to see how my final exams go :)

If you can't fold it, try a bazooka.

Since we're supposed to be conveying a mood or feeling, I decided to come up with something that conveys the holidays. My design, below, is intended to capture both the traditional and the commercialized spirit of the season.

I call it "Christmas in America."

Image

(The design is based on a modular Xmas tree by Roman Diaz, but I have modified it to be folded out of a single dollar)

Great 4Sigma. Can you design a model like that from a single square? It would be an instant success if you do!
