The d20 origami challenge!

As Saj has suggested in this thread, this will be a challenge to design fantasy creatures based off the Dungeons and Dragons Monster Manual. I thought I'll just extend this to <i>any</i> critter from a d20 sourcebook instead. Like the roleplaying games they're based on, you won't need to buy loads of expensive sourcebooks to play.

Instead, just visit the art gallery of the WotC website:

Plenty of material here to keep everyone busy designing for months!

Rules? None really, just about anything goes. Multiple sheets, cuts, glue, or whatever other personal restrictions you'll like to follow. Since it's just a friendly challenge, there's no scorekeeping either. Well, okay, we could just count the number of oooohs and aaaaahs. Bonus points if you diagram what you design (HINT, HINT).

Please use this thread to showcase your work. As mentioned several times before by Chris, ImageShack is a place where you can upload pictures for free. There's also Flickr.

And here's another reason why we're never going to see <u>The Works of Joseph Wu</u>.

IsnÂ´t it allowed to create your own monster?
For example a monsterbird with very big teeth, a second pair of claws and a couple of scorpionlike tails, or something else like this?

yes but you would have to avoid the "i invented a creature which looks like a bird base" trap and of course the "i invented a creature which looks like random folds in a peice of paper" trap.

Yeah, it doesn't look like much, but I don't see anyone else with a model for a piercer either. The point is that it's possible to be creative without having to be a rocket scientist.

I made something, it's a flying bird spitting fire. Unfortunately, I printed this image and forgot the name, maybe anybody does know its...
It's a bit messy ( the head is far too big, leggs are too short, etc.) but it's only my third real design, so please be kind

My current avatar (an orc with a lolling tongue) is D&D related, I suppose. I "designed it" * a couple of years ago. There's a larger photo in my Yahoo! album (accessible via the WWW link just below).

Wolf, I like your stirge & rust monster. Very unusual choices.
They remind me of "The Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth". One of my all time favorite adventures.
Pity 3rd ed. seems the "trend" these days.
Great job on all the models.

Which is why I allowed myself to cheat on my rust monster: the antennae are cut from the edge (kinda like the traditional shrimp design). That way, I can make it to scale as a miniature.
