I'd say you certainly achieved what you were intending. This not only evokes the simple, abstract forms of the crane and pajarita, but it actually looks quite a lot like a cross between the two of them.juston wrote:Here's my 'Abstract Pegasus' made from an isosceles right triangle. My goal with this model was to make a recognizable Pegasus that evoked the simple, abstract forms of traditional models like the crane and pajarita.

Re: Abstract Pegasus
Finally, I got my picture uploaded! Here you go:
Bacteriophage, folded from an equilateral triangle.
In my opinon, this is my best design yet!

Darnit, I am probably going to run out of time this month before I get a decent fold of this guy, and all I've had since the squid are too-small pieces of paper, too-thick paper, and this poorly put-together piece of tissue foil spare (a bit lumpy and wrinkled):
Equilateral triangle, 21cm again. I'm very sorry for the sloppy folds and wrinkles on the paper. If I can squeeze in a better result by tomorrow I will update the pictures.
I don't know why I'm on a mollusk run with the triangles. Either it's the symmetry lending itself to the forms or I subconsciously still have Cephalopod's octopus from last month on the brain. I feel a bit cheap not having diagrammed the squid or this one yet, but I will diagram both soon when I get more time.
=====
EDIT: Ah! I just managed to squeeze in at least a fold with better paper. This one shows the face a lot better than crinkled foil. I think perhaps I shouldn't have tried to round the tentacles on the foil one. The paper is a tad thick so it doesn't stay compressed as nicely as the foil, but is much cleaner-looking.

Tars Tarkas
What's that saying? Art is never finished, only abandoned.
Yeah, that about sums it up. I've folded this guy three times now and he's still pretty unphotogenic. I really need more time to work out his finishing folds and pose but it's the last day so this will have to do.
This is my model of 'Tars Tarkas' made from an isosceles right triangle.
If you're unfamiliar with the subject matter these might be incredibly confusing photos to you. He's a green Martian from Edgar Rice Burroughs' Barsoom series.
This model is unique for me in that I didn't base it on anyone else's depiction of Tars Tarkas since I'm not particularly fond of them... they all seem far too human for my tastes. I based this model entirely on my own ideas of what he should look like with some help from this rather in depth article about green Martian anatomy.

Like all inhabitants of Burroughs' version of Mars, Tars goes largely unclothed except for weapons and a few ornaments... so I gave him a cape and a sheathed sword.

Whoops, I meant "isosceles right triangle" not "equilateral right triangle"... that would have to be some crazy, four dimensional paper. I wonder what you could fold with it?

I guess these photos will have to do.
Nautilus! Folded from an equilateral triangle of pearlized white paper with the back dyed red by MC'ing tissue paper. Starting triangle about 11-12 inches (28-30 cm) on a side. I would like to fold it from larger, more shapeable, paper. Nautilus about 2.5 inches (5 cm) with 2 cm long tentacles.
This version has 10 tentacles, 2 eyes (color-changed to white), a hyponome (barely visible underneath), and a white shell.
I could also have made more puffy red eyes instead of the white ones, but I decided to try to do color-changed ones.
Believe it or not, this design is really fun to fold.

Good to see that someone else has mollusks on the brain this month.Nautilus! Folded from an equilateral triangle
