Here is my entry:
Aerostatic balloon, from a 6" x 17" (150 mm x 425 mm) rectangle of parchment paper, no cuts, no glue.
No wings, but it flies

Interesting...it's half bat and half bat skeleton (no wing membrane). Um, it's also missing one finger on each hand, but it's a really interesting model--I love the ears and face!

That's one of the best bat's in origami. Very well thought out, and i love the originality! Great!!

Looks really good ! But to get it this thin and without apparent creases, the paper must be close to papier maché, no ? How do you beat it into getting such a seamless shape, squeeze, tie, ... ?

I imagine that it was made in a way similar to the way to Mark Leonard's Daffodil or his own lizardgachepapier wrote:Looks really good ! Thanks for the link and info - very interesting !
I probably won't be trying this any time soon as it's a bit too "material intensive" for my own taste (I think), but I do like the result quite a lot.

it is very similar, but "wetcrumpling"anonymous person wrote:I imagine that it was made in a way similar to the way to Mark Leonard's Daffodil or his own lizardgachepapier wrote:Looks really good ! AND,I use it for the shape, not for the construction, the base for all of my models is mathematical,at first,I collapse the base ( see the "lagartijo") and then,in order all the flaps become round,I crumple.
but is an option for the shape, some people folded my models in a traditional way.
Thank you so much for your comments!!!!!!

I made this for a challenge on the French forum. Since it's a bird and birds fly, I figured it would be elligible for this challenge as well.

To appreciate these entries you need to see the plan and how the 1 page models developed:
Here is my two entries for this one (wish I could do the "Slip and Stick" version but too many rectangles!)
This is called the "Half Wright Flyer"
and this one is "Origami Done Wright" - Just the top picture!
This is the "slip and Stick" version

Re: monthly folding challenge: July 2011
My second entry for the month will be a witch on her broom with a bat on her shoulder. I didn't intend to have the bat but I had a huge chunk of extra space and couldn't think of anything better to do with it.
