New post not showing in the list?

Post by Gerardo »

My latest thread isn't showing in the list of "New Posts". What could be the reason? How can we fix that?

The thread: http://snkhan.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=13022

The list: http://snkhan.co.uk/origami.php search at the bottom.

Sorry, I am not able to reproduce your problem. It shows up for me in the list of new posts.

That's weird, I refreshed the page in case that was it but it still doesn't appear. This is the list I'm seeing:

It's even weirder that this very thread isn't showing in the list. Do you see it as well when you visit the page origami_8? Do others see the other one I started -"What two colors for a wallet?"- in the page?

Maybe it is because it is not new to you, because you posted in it just before?
Here's my list:

I think you are seeing problems where there are none.

Thanks origami_8. Sorry about being a little anoying . I wasn't talking about that list (I don't even know how to access it) I was talking about this one:

Image

It's HERE.

When I visit the forum I start there to know which are the latest threads. I suppose I'm not the only one, that was why I wanted to ask for help showing my thread there. If people check out updates like I do they won't know about my thread and, if people are at least aware of the thread, there's a bigger chance that they will post an answer. Know what I mean?

I'm suspecting that that list isn't showing threads opened in the "Using the forum" nor in the "Paper" subforums. I can understand why it isn't important to show there the threads from the "Using the forum" subforum but I do think the ones started in the "Paper" subforum should be included. Well, if that is the case :).

I appreciate all you help as administrator origami_8.

PS: Where do I find that list that you showed?

When you are logged in go to the main page of the Forum. Below the header but above the different Categories, there are the following options:
View unanswered posts • View unread posts • View new posts • View active topics
The View new posts shows the new posts since your last visit.

The list you showed is an example for an RSS feed. I don't know what settings Sajid chose to make this feed, but it obviously doesn't show the newest posts on the Forum. If you want an RSS feed that fits your needs better you can easily generate one using this form: http://snkhan.co.uk/forum/smartfeed_url.php
To display it you either need a webpage or an RSS-Reader like for example http://feedly.com

Thanks origami_8, I found it.

You're right that RSS feed doesn't show new posts it just shows the latest threads and not all of them from what I could tell from my two new threads that aren't showing them.

I was hoping something could be done about that feed but I understand.

Thank you for all your help :).

What Sajid displays on his Website is none of my business and none of yours either.

Hi! I've configured the RSS feed to fetch the latest 'First posts' made within the past few days. It is possible to fetch the latest threads with activity including responses, however this will return an item for each response (and would require de-duplication).

Perhaps when I get some time I will fix this, in the meantime feel free to roll your own feed :)

Thanks! I wasn't expecting your answer snkhan :).

I personally like how it already is, but is it also fetching new threads from the paper subforum? I'm suspecting it isn't. Just a comment ;).

Probably not, as the feed was created long before the restructure of the forum. I'll fix this tonight :)

I registered yesterday and neither my post nor my reply showed up. I haven!t found a sandbox so I'm checking here if I can post. (Also does anyone know how long it takes for my posts to show up?)

Your first three posts need to be approved by a Moderator. Given that we are only human beings that have a live apart from the Forum it can take from a few minutes up to a few days, depending on how often we are able to check. After those three posts got approved and we are certain, that you are no Spammer, all your further posts will show up immediately after you submit them.

Rather than open a new thread, I decided to post in this one. I hope this is relatable. When I go to the index, It shows someone posted in the General section. When I go in, It shows That it is on Robert Lang Model Topics. When I go there, the last post was by JMM. I also tried to go to the direct post with that button, and it says requested topic doesn't exist. Also, Lazma's(The one who posted) account doesn't have any post when I try to access it through there. Was this some sort of bug where it was a spammer or something but it won't delete?
