Help with Paper Warping/Peeling

I recently got a big cutting mat, and have tried treating a couple papers, including large mulberry and wenzhou papers (~65cm). Without fail, the papers start peeling off as they are drying and have rippling warps. I have a thicker mix of MC mixed with elmer’s pva school glue (1tbsp of each and then a cup of water). I don’t know what I should try to troubleshoot this issue. Any feedback is appreciated

weigh down the corners with something the mc won't adhere to. it doesn't have to be heavy.
