Making Paper

Post by PleatBox »

Has anyone tried making paper? like from pulp the way Michael Lafosse does it? I'm interested in making paper myself, or at least have the knowledge of how handmade papers are produced. I heard Seth Friedman is also practicing on handmade papers as well.

I think that some of Michael's books describe the steps he uses to make paper. And, I believe that Kamiya may have stayed with Michael to learn how to make his own paper. Michael or Seth might answer this, or might be too busy to read it, so you could try sending an email directly.

Someone in the Forum may remember where papermaking was described.

The paper making process was described in depths in both the books by Michael LaFosse "Advanced Origami" and "Origami Art".

For what its worth, you can also do some searches on "making washi paper". Lots of video examples, and the principles and process are similar. These won't replace the references mentioned above, but more information...
