Origami Paper
Hey guys I'm fairly new to this forum but i have been folding for a few years now and i was wondering if u could tell me what the best kind of paper to use for models with a lot of folding, such as Satoshi Kamiya's Phoenix 3.5 or Ancient Dragon which I've folded before but the paper just seems to fall apart thanks in advance

Re: Origami Paper
Well what i use for complex models is thai unryu paper, but it has to be mc treated (Methyl cellulose) it's like a type of glue it bonds the two sheets together since one sheet of thai unryu can't be folded properly. There are other types you can use such as kozo, mulberry, lokta, and hanji if you can find large sheets of it I hope this helps.

Re: Origami Paper
I used to be able to get my unryushi from two local stores but one has closed and the other is no longer restocking supplies.
So I'm adding to the request. I'd normally use Origami-Shop but they have limited stocks/sell out fast. Does anyone know another good online store for unryushi (25 gsm)? If they take PayPal that would be great. I hope someone can help - I do 90% of my folding from unryushi.

Re: Origami Paper
double tissue MC is very tough to beat. Cheap, widely available, all kinds of colors, easy to make.

Re: Origami Paper
Thanks for the response. Unfortunately (other than Origami-Shop who are currently out of stock of large sheets) none of those suppliers have the coloured Unryushi that I and others favour. So if anyone else has a web based supplier that they use I'm still interested.

Re: Origami Paper
What is the best kind of tissue paper? Apart from unryu, and lokta, and expensive things like that. So far, I've been using really cheap tissue that usually rips while drying. I'm looking for something that doesn't rip easily and is cheap (under $2 per pack). Thanks in advance.
Re: Origami Paper
Average low quality tissue paper becomes much better if you treat it with MC or CMC (viewtopic.php?f=21&t=4578), which is pretty cheap too. Especially double tissue is a great paper for folding.
Tissue Paper + CMC = WIN!
Re: Origami Paper
Thanks, but the tissue paper that I use often rips while drying, how do you stop that?

It's a large plastic photo frame.
