The way I'm doing scales isn't measuring, but sort of calculating. The paper is divided into either 128 or 256 depending on the model. Then, if it's the pup, it has a few rows of 1/128, then some of 2/128, then 3/128, then decreasing. On the adult, it will be 1/256ths, then some 2/256ths, 3/256ths, 4/256ths, then decrease. So, the distance depends on the size of the square is the point I'm trying to get at.

That looks coll joshuaorigami!! Haha maybe we should compare each other's designs to our own just to see how similar they are!! So is your pup just an experiment for an adult, or you just wanted to make a pup from the start?

I had a brilliant idea to hold the plates together whilst wetfolding!! My sister had a LOT of these really tiny clothespins. Much to my dismay, the operative word is "had"

I have about a dozen of them. They're very handy for folding CPs, too.
You might have some luck finding them at craft stores. A few British sites sell 100 for about £2-3, which is less than $5.

I also use them for hanging up homemade tissue-foil to dry.

Pretty useful all round, really.

I did a bit more looking, and they look like they're pretty easy to find in the UK, but not so much in the US, but maybe they're called something else; I searched for "mini pegs".

Mine are 1 3/16", I guess they're the 1.25" kind.

I haven't folded many large models, though, so I don't know how good they are for things folded from anything larger than 20-30cm, but below that size, they're a great size.

However, you should be able to get them in 100s, so large models shouldn't be a problem.

I don't know about using them to hold hundreds of scales in place, but I would think that smaller would be better.

Well, I don't have the funds, even if it is $10, so I'll just find creative ways to expand on HankSimon's suggestion with using a stocking. I could probably like use some cheesecloth and some yarn.

Haha either those or clothespins. Pretty much the only thing I've had fastened whilst wetfolding was the legs with clothespins, and then yarn tied around the whole model around the wet paper towel (thanks for the idea HankSimon, very helpful!!)
