If you could post a picture that would be cool.
First: Yes the paper is supposed to be quite thick, very thick.
Second: It is somewhat hard to complete this step, you want to take a single ply of paper on the top of the model and bring it around front of that flap you made in earlyer steps. The step is hard because there is really nothing to grab onto, but if you work at it you will be able to get it into position.
P.S. If I can get a hold of a cammera I will post pictures.

Re: Help on Praying Mantis (Robert J Lang)
Yes, diagram is wrong in this point. And it is also wrong in the step 57>58 (after doing step 57 the paper edges and folds are not correctly shown in the picture 58 ). The same diagram is in Lang's book Origami insect and their kin but here the diagram has no mistakes.Tang-nga Pinoy wrote:the link is http://origamania.free.fr/Diagramme/PrayingMantis.pdf
im sure that the diagram is wrong because wen i open sink on step 8, step 9 shows sumthing almost different...

Yes Pictures in this thread are now gone!
Please someone try to re-post or post new pictures describing the process around step 35 or so...the old ones are no longer available, but seemed to be of great help!

Help me please
I've tried a few times to fold the Lang Mantis (the one from the book) but i cant overcome the step 61

In this step, i've got to realise a sink but the piece of paper to sink is trapped by the operation made steps 16 and 17...
After all those tries, i think there is an error in the diagrams. Does anybody have achieved this mantis ? Maybe, i have to skip those steps.
Any help would be welcome...

While you are right, that the flap to be sunk is trapped, this step is still correct and doable. When you pull at the front flap a bit to open the layers and look at the model from the side you will see this:

Just sink in and out on the shown creases (on the precreases from the previous step) and close the model again.
