origami_8: thank you for for the diagrams, but I still don't know how to incorporate the scales into the koi.

I mean, what is the distance from each pleat to the next in inch/cm, or relative to the thickness of the pleat, (i.e. 3 pleat widths)? And how far from the corners did you make the pleats? And I gues if anything I would like to know how big you made the scales/pleats? Either in inch/cm or relative to the paper or the pleats...

I guess I'm just lost in the proportions of the scales/pleats to the rest of the paper, if that makes any sense. :?

Help!

Although I know how to fold the scales, I'm still stuck on the proportions of the pleats to the rest of the paper and how far in the pleats started. And far in did you fold the valley of step 5 to accommodate for the alterations?

Could someone please give me this information?

But I did find aa website with great pictures on how to fold the scale tesselation:

Thank you for the notice, newbpcpfolder. I didn't look real closely at the diagrams because I assumed they were the same since it said it was from Origami Design Secrets.

And after spending three to four hours on it, I think i may have figured out what I was wanting to know! And hopefully I'l fold it in the coming months! :D (I'll post it as soon as I figure it out :) )

=D> Congratulations! Do you mind sharing what you figured out? I'm stuck on the proportions of the pleats to the rest of the paper and the distance the pleats from the edge of the paper. Each time (3x already--and I ripped and burnt the last one) Lang's koi, I have parts of the body not covered with scales. Again, please help me with this; I will try it one more time before I give up with this one.

 ... no ... I've been busy doing other stuff, like working, school, forgetting about it, folding other models, designing my first (good) model... Although I did start the pleating for the scales and I don't have a very good feeling about it. Mostly because when I was drawing the pleats, they kept on being innacurate, and other stuff happening like: I'd think I have it measured out right, but only to realize I didn't, so I'd change it, only to find out I was right the first time, and that the paper/foil might be to thick... And it takes FOREVER to draw the pleats.

I guess I'm just afraid of ruining all the time I've put into it, so rather than making a mistake, I'm not making anything...
