In case you don't know, the scales are the wrong side up

what do You mean Angrydemon saying that scales are wrong side up? it's about 2,1 i have done, or it' about 3,5? I've practiced making scales on Lang's Koi (i know there are diffrent scales - the end of shaping differs) and i have learned much during making the 2.1, but thanks for advice:D

I mean you folded the wrong side of the scales upwards. If you don't know what I mean, look at Godzebu's photo stream. http://flickr.com/photos/8877661@N03/page3/

His Ryu-zin 2.1 is right. It looks almost exactly like the picture in the calendar next to the CP. Except the tail, which he made more like the newer versions.

I can look very close, even than i still don't get what you mean, the scales aren't open, look at godzebu Scale Test, i left scales at this point http://flickr.com/photos/8877661@N03/23 ... 126821965/ it means i fold only the cp as it is, without shaping the scales - as I mentioned earlier I'll do it on Ryu Zin 3.5, i think that this is clear know and i assume that was the point you were trying to show me?? I've changed tail, because newer one looks better, still it needs the cp from 3,5 to look this way, 3 scales in row creates small tail ending.

Steps 5-11 are extremely important, why did you leave them out? And after you finish them, you're supposed to turn the model over.

Look at step 11.
http://flickr.com/photos/8877661@N03/23 ... 126821965/
11. It should look like this once all scales are done. Turn the model over.
I bet you didn't do that, eh? That is exactly why this model is so confusing! I hope you finally understand what I'm trying to tell you.

yes they are very important, but in 3.5 version, originally Kamiya Satoshi made 2.1 without the scales as i did, when it comes to "Turn the model over" it's useless, unfortunetely ( correct me if spelling is wrong) after step 11, you have to put free parts of scale underneath the scale after this one, you should look at this topic viewtopic.php?t=3256, by the way the 2.1 doesn't have the scales on back as the 3.5, but i've done them:D

Oops. Looks like Artur's method is much simpler then Zebu's. So confusing...

Have You seen Lang's Origami Design Secrets, there's how to make Koi's scales, and as i said before, Ryu's and Koi's scales differs only in ending shaping:D

Actually, the scales for Lang's koi are quite different than Ryujin's. Lang first presents a similar scale design but with the tips sunk, but then uses a more efficient, and different, scale tile.

I often wonder if we would know when something happens to a member, and I fear that the answer is no. Who would tell us?
