Camel Spider- Yago Braojos

I collapsed the base, and I'm almost certain that I've done it correctly. I can see all the flaps and what they will turn out to be, and where each one needs to go, but I can't get them there. What I need is help specifically in getting the flaps where they need to go from the base.

Basically, it's a ton of reverse folds and crimps. You can reverse fold them so that they all point out like this http://www.flickr.com/photos/89213771@N ... hotostream and shape them to your preference.

I tried that but the model is impossible to fold in half, so I can't do that. Could someone maybe try actually folding the model and then correcting whatever I've done wrong in my pictures?

What you need is better paper. From the looks of it, the paper you're using is too thick, and it looks like it was tearing in the second picture.

I'm using standard tant paper. It tore because I reversed those points aroundd 20 times trying to figure out what to do. And I'm still stuck. What I can't figure out is HOW to get the flaps where they need to go, not WHY I can't get theem there. That I've already thought about. I think I must have done something wrong with the base.

EDIT: I can switch to a thinner paper if I have to, but I was able to fold Kamiya's Cerberus and Takashi's Nazgul 8.1 from this paper with virtually no problems.

Out of curiosity, what size did you use for the Cerberus? I'm interested in folding one in the near future.

35 cm brown tant. I'd post a picture of the finished model but it is currently in a display case at my school.

Ah good, I got a small stack of that size, I guess that's what I'll be making next then!

good luck! the layers on the hind legs get dificult to deal with btw, all the double crimps that shape the hind legs will need to be single crimps.

Now, back to this camel spider?

I thought about it, and I think I know how to do it. It's not that the paper is thick, but rather that when I crimp the flaps down and then fold each side in half, they don't hold the crimp, go back up and then I can't do the fold in half. I'll either make some tissue foil and try again, or (as I've started doing recently) design my own.
