During the past few weeks I've been struggling to fold a paper pipe - as in a regular tobacco pipe. I haven't done much origami when I initiated this project, so I started out doing basic animal origami pieces. The pipe will be exhibited at my school as a part of an annual arts exhibition.

While I have gained some basic origami abilities, I'm still far from designing my own diagrams. Has anyone any knowledge of a pipe folding diagram, from a book/the internet/self-made? Or perhaps a folding diagram that could be tweaked into a pipe easily? I intend to exhibit the pipe filled with tobacco in order to inspire the specator to imagine what it must be like to actually smoke (from) the paper pipe. Of course it will burst into flames immediately, which is where the imaginative powers of the spectator should be stimulated.

I will post pictures of the exhibit when I have them.

There's a very nice pipe by Ted Megrath in Origami - Paperfolding for Fun by Eric Kenneway which I think would be perfect for your purpose

The same one is in the book "Pfiffiges Origami" by Paulo Mulatinho. A really nice model and very lifelike (it doesn´t need to be filled with tobacco to imagine what it is thought for )

As promised here are the pictures of the pipe. I didn't get around to take some decent stilleben pictures because I was so busy putting the pipe to good use.

I've just been asked to produce a vinyl record inlay with the folding diagram. I think I will post the finished diagram here if anyone should want to see what it looks like.

The pictures are taken on school territory so I stuck with good ol' MacBaren tobacco. I didn't bring enough of my father's crappy tobacco so I had to stuff it with an empty plastic bag.

The equation looks like this: About time someone put flimsy and artsy origami to use! Does anyone know of any other examples of folding with a practical purpose?

You can make paper shurikens and throw them in people's eyes

i would advise not to do that because it really hurts and yes i am speaking from personal experience

Would a free diagram for a paper shuriken happen to be avalible online? I know someone with too many eyes and someone who needs to have a shuriken thrown in their eye.
