Help with Jason Ku's Jewel beetle

Post by Andre-4 »

I read on another thread that this c.p Jewel Beetle was easy so I gave it a try..after 3 attempts at the c.p ..I finally got the reference points making sense in a box grid of 18.
Literally at a squeeze because I had to adjust the two horizontal diamonds at the top into kite shape ,because it really was supposed to fit on 36
Now I have done gender folds on it as it wasn't a contrasted or coloured guide.
I'm in the sunken place

I hope this is the one you're looking at. Please provide the link yourself so we know what you are talking about.

This cp is not on a grid, except that the bottom edge of the paper can be divided into thirds.

I don't know how else to help you: What are gender folds? Where is the "sunken place?" What horizontal diamonds "fit on 36?"

The sunken place is a term used for when one is in a quagmire..

The diamonds at the top ...if you can notice an electric pylon or aerial mast the diamonds had to be adjusted as I couldn't make the reference points for unless it was a kite...

Gender folds are where you fold everything as mountains then turn over and do the same on the opposite side..
This effect sometimes cause the paper to find its own level and thus you can fold quickly

The correct term is "genderless", meaning that you fold a crease in both directions opposed to only one. Don't know where exactly this term originates, because mountain and valley folds aren't referred to as male and female, but to call it gender folds is definitely wrong.
