Modular origami by Francisca Prieto

Post by Sudha »

I'm looking for the diagram for a specific modular origami used by Francisca Prieto (a Chilean Origami Artist) for wall art

I think her art looks amazing and am hoping to recreate something similar for my home

thanks!

They seem to be interconnected wind mill bases. In that case, you would have to make a lot of them and use more squares just to connect the bases. Might you have the book Practigami? Graciela Vicente teaches how to make a game using more or less the same kind of folds.

I am writing to set out my concern and complaint that you are looking to reproduce my distinctive work in which I own artistic copyright. Links of my work have been provided.

The rules of this forum states clearly that copyright should be respected:

Rule N.4. - Members are asked to respect the copyright of other users, sites, media, etc. Linking to diagrams, crease patterns etc is not permissible unless if you have permission from the author.
Rule N.9- DO NOT ask for or share copyrighted diagrams from books, CDs etc. Users are encouraged to use the ‪Origami Database to find the location of these diagrams. Members making such posts will be warned or banned, and we will lock or delete any such topics.

I expect that his post will be removed ASAP.

Kind regards,

Dear Francisca, of course we respect your intellectual property. If someone asks for or provides diagrams on the Forum, the moderators try to verify that only legal sources are linked. The first post of this topic not only shows apprehension of your work but also only links to public pictures of your work, with the second link being a mere Google search that everyone can do to get the same results. As a moderator I can see no infringement of your rights. The second post in this topic provides suggestions how to achieve a similar result without giving detailed instructions. Once again, I can see nothing that needs to be removed.
Furthermore I don't quite see how some glued together traditional windmill bases can be copyright protected. The intellectual property to make this art can only be the medium you choose, not the fold itself.
I'm sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear, but I can really not see how any of those two posts could infringe your rights. Maybe you can give me some further insights?
