I have a lot of 2 and 3/4 inch sheets that I like to casually fold, but anything beyond an 8x8 grid requires a lot of precision and attention which kind of defeats the purpose :p
My go-to model is a simplification of Riccardo Foschi's tree frog that I came up with, but I'd like to learn a few more similarly simple designs:

It might be a little complicated (I don't know your skill level), but there's a model called the Omega Star that I used to fold all the time. There is/was a tutorial on Youtube.

@Baltorigamist
Modular version(better quality, too!)

I too often fold from the small squares, it's handy for when I'm commuting somewhere or waiting around somewhere.
My go-to models are Jo Nakashima's squirrel and some jun maekawa models (namely rabbit and peacock). If you're looking for a cp, I have a 12x12 grid mouse (with partial 24ths but that can be skipped) and a sea turtle that is partially 8x8 and partially 16x16, both crease patterns can be found here: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/fold ... leSHoDd7z2
it is definitely possible to fold these two models with the small sheets, but would certainly require precision. Good practice imo

Thanks! That one works! I'm no expert, but since there's not a lot of 8x8 models out there I've been folding all sorts of random stuff on tiny paper:
Somewhere around the house I have a tiny collapsed Foschi's scorpion (24x24 grid), never got around shaping it because it seemed very likely to tear. Any 8x8-12x12 design should be fine.

Thanks! I actually found your turtle while looking for 8x8 models and folded it yesterday (see pic above). It's an amazing model! I definitely consider it to be a 16x16 tho. I'll give the mouse a try!
Thanks! I'm glad y'all like the turtle.
It has become unexpectedly popular in the past year or so (I posted it here like 3 years ago but no one really saw), I tried to count of the people who folded it, it's probably like 40 but I've lost count
Also, what's the white seagull in your hand there? That looks like a nice one.
