Duh! I managed to fold the base without any trouble. However I only folded the box-pleated creases of 45 and 90 degrees and the bird base center square. I always find it quite hard to incorporate the 22.5 and 67.5 degree and tinier creases of the heads at the precreasing stage. Is there any way I can form the head flaps and add the 22.5/67.5 portions later when the basic base is collapsed? It looks like these creases are used to pull back the major head flaps somewhat. And what are the really tiny diamonds for?

what if...
Thank you for the tip but that seems complicated for me
and i also dont like drawing the crease pattern on my sheets
would it help if i colapse the base without the extra details
like in the left part of the cp in the magazine?

What i did was just found the reference points for the hexagon, then folded that shape, then coerced the paper flat. All the 22.5 constructs just formed naturally, and the finished model looked fine.

I wonder what the recommended size of paper folding this model is. I folded this model from diagrams in the Tanteidan 15th Convention book and realised that, to be cleanly folded, it needs a large paper. 70 x 70 cm perhaps?

I folded it from 70 cm square paper and it was OK. But it is quite small.

Judging from these paper sizes, I'm thinking that the cerberus may be easier from the CP! I had no problems with 35cm on my first try, and it turned out great from 25cm on my second.

When I fold a model for the first time, I use a low-quality paper and small in size (from A4 copy paper). After having experimented the model, I fold with a larger paper! But the largest I have is 70 x 70 cm paper. I wonder where I can find paper from 1 x 1 m or larger in Thailand.
