Robert Lang Dancing Crane Folding the legs

Hi everyone, I've been having the hardest time in folding the legs of the Dancing Crane by Robert Lang. In the diagrams he mentioned about "close sinking" the flaps...but I had tried that and it seems as though my paper always end up squished.

oh i know how you feel. I still cant get the legs right without tearing the paper a little. it's a pain.
