Joisel? Not worth having? Can't quite work out why you'd say that. Whether or not one likes his work, he's one of the finest origami artists in the world today. I'd even go so far as to say he's in the top 10 creative folders of all time.

im also looking for his works of others, such as Pangolin,Snail,Self-Made-Man....and so on ....

anybody read 3d masks and bust yet? give your opinion on it. what is it about?

Does this book have instructions on folding Joisel's masks and busts or just photos of his work?

I have received this and worked through the models. They are photographs of the steps rather than diagrams. They are very clear and relatively easy to follow. I have enjoyed this book. There are some crease patterns. It is pretty short.

That being said, the models are mainly useful as bases. It's much like Joisel's diagram for the dwarf. It gets you started but the details are up to the artist. Only the first model for the demon gets you pretty much to a finished fold.

The reason Joisel doesn't have much book reference is that his art is very free form and not amenable to simple diagrams. He is less geometric and more paper sculpture. Yet, he largely holds to the uncut square discipline. If you have seen the documentary "Between the Folds", he explains his approach much more eloquently than I can. I highly recommend this film.

Could you clarify as to what the crease patterns might be? I have already ordered this book, but I had overlooked the part about CPs. When I heard, I got extra excited. Are they just more masks, or some of human figures/hobbits? I prefer the latter, frankly.

Thanks for the compliment. I'm still struggling. If you have any success with eyes, let me know. Joisel does these double pleat eyes with a partial sphere pushed from behind that look like really cool eyes. These are mainly in his CPs. They look really dorky when I try them. I've found that just a shadow or wrinkle to suggest eyes, is all that works for me.
