Hi I am new here, sorry if I am posting this in the wrong section. I am trying to make the origami sea turtle the diagram is found on this page:

http://dev.origami.com/images_pdf/sea_turtle.pdf

I am stuck on step 23 and I have been trying to get it for about an hour. I am pretty sure that I did all of the folds before it correctly. If somebody could explain the instructions for that step in a different way or something I would really appreciate it. Thanks :)

ah that step does seem a little tricky. What might be easier is to do both steps 23 and 24 at the same time. Step 24 is the side view of whats going on. I made this: i hope it helps. :wink:

Red = valley fold
Blue = mountain
*NOTE: i marked the same folds on each step, so you can see how they relate

Can you give a little help on step 34? I completely don't understand what's going on here....

@metrodj Well i havent folded the model before, but it seems like you just fold down the first 3 layers of the top and flatten them. When flattened it should make a square.

You should pull back the 3 layers behind at step 34. Though I never folded the piece before, there should be a spread sink kind of thingy behind, connected to the 22.5 degree angle. When you pull the layers down, there should be a layer behind that you can pull out. I will try folding the piece.

EDIT: I finished Webber's sea turtle in 20 min. Now I'll fold a tidier one. It's so fun!

Hi,

I am new to this Forum, but I have been practicing Origami for a while. I use the site: http://dev.origami.com/images_pdf/
for all of my new projects, however the most recent one I discovered was the sea turtle. I thought I knew a thing or two about folding paper, but steps 6-8 are tripping me up. Is step 6 supposed to be a rotation 180 degrees of the model, or is there a fold that I am supposed to do to get to step 7? Anyone that could shoot me some helpful tips on this project would be nice.

Thank You!

Hai! Step 6 is not a rotation, you're going to grab the two corners and pull in opposite directions while making the valley fold on the top of the model to get it to collapse like the picture in step 7. Step 7 is a squash fold, and step 8 is two valley folds to the center of the model. Hope that helps!

Haha! After I figured it out I kicked myself a little bit. I was making it way too difficult. Thanks!
