That's how it's supposed to look. However, he used crepe paper, which has many many tiny little folds in it which he used to stretch to paper here and there to make it rounder and nicer looking. If you don't have crepe paper, I suggest you wet fold it or use foil to shape.

hi all..
sorry, I was away for the weekend and thus had no internet access.
thanks for everyones feedback. it makes me feel much better and of course more confident in folding that orchid by Mr. Lafosse.
I just need to make sure I had the steps 30 and 31 right...and then I will try to wet-fold it....but step 31 really knocks me out somehow

Hey everyone,
i'm having a bit of a problem with the orchid
i folded to whole thing fine but in steps 34-36 i can't seem to open up the model correctly. I'm not sure if i have it right back to front but instead of a big sepal at the top i have two things sticking out (the parts worked on in step 33). Then the part done in step 20 is sticking straight out at you when i open it up.
I'm almost sure folded it right and it was looking exactly like it is drawn in the book until i opened it
any suggestions?

there was a picture on the first page of this topic.
Re: Michael Lafosse - Cattleya Orchid
yeah, it was me who linked that picture.
I was wondering if anyone succeeded to closely fold that orchid to look like the one of Mr. Lafosse.

oh...have you tried looking on flickr?
if you have, it may just be a model that is near impossible to duplicate. its a beautiful fold though, i can see why you would want to fold it.
