3 unit triangular bipyramid

Post by Gerardo »

I'm looking for what I consider the easiest modular model ever.

You need three squares

1. You fold each one by its diagonal half, making and isosceles right triangle.

2. You take each 45° tip, place each one on top of the 90° tip and fold, making a square.

3. You crease the square by the diagonal line that separates both folded tips.

4. This units have a "mouth" and two "legs". You connect them all by inserting the legs of A into the mouth of B, the legs of B into the mouth of C, and the legs of C into the mouth of A, and press it all together.

5. At the end you get a 3 unit triangular bipyramid.

Do you know this model? Who created it? What's it's real name? Where were the original diagrams published?

Thanks in advance!

I'm not familiar with the model you're talking about, but I know one that gives the same result--also from three units:

Thanks! Do you think my explanation of the steps was clear?

I'm amazed it doesn't seem to be that known. I was taught this model twice by two different people.

I'm gonna ask about the model in the list just in case.
