Help folded sandwich packaging - study project

Hi,
I'am a student Industrial Design and currently working on a project for an airline to redesign the packaging for a small food serving. I have a concept, but it is not ideal. So I was hoping that you guys maybe know a better folding design.
I came up with a design made from paper for a small (3x6x8.5cm) sandwich. These are my requirements.
1) I want the user to be able to unfold the packaging flat, without tearing. In this way it can be used as a clean place to lay the food or as a napkin on the lap.
2) The packaging must be sealed airtight, so there should be no gaps. It is sealed using a heat seal that presses the paper together. This is done on a flat spot, like the end of a Snickers bar. On top of that I would like it to be sealed in one place, so the user can tear it open in one action and unfold it.
The design I found is the following:

But as you can see in the pictures below, it is not an efficient use of space, since the triangles are sticking out. Therefore I can't pack that much in the rectangular trolley in the airplane.

I hope you can help me out here! Especially since I only have a few days left.
Thanks, Nelson
