Help finding origami flower that "opens"

Post by GigiB »

I'm looking for a diagram to make some sort of flower that could be opened some way (not completely opened, but perhaps squeezed so that one could peak inside the flower). I want to put tiny things inside the flower that can be seen when one peaks inside. I don't know if anything like this exists, but I've had no luck finding it.

Kawasaki Roses are hollow so you could put something inside and close the rose afterwards. You can find many videos on how to make them on YouTube.

Momotani has a flower that opens by itself in Trick Origami.

Robin Glynn has a simple, one-piece box that can be opened: http://glynnorigami.co.uk/Boxes.htm

It is not really a flower, but you can use the twisted top box created by my origami sensei Clemente Giusto

or my exhagonal variation of it

It is easy to do, and it can contains something.
Then just pull out two opposite points and it opens

The magic rose cube if squeezed on the sides after it is in rose form unravels so you can look inside of it.

Here's videos on how to make it:
