It can be folded from one square.
First, fold John Montroll's six-sided-square (it's a preliminary base with not 4 but 6 flaps), then continue just like as the traditional lily/iris (squash, petal fold and narrow each flap).
Some of the flaps will become a bit thick, but it still can be done even with 80g printer paper.
The six-sided-square instructions can be found in Teach yourself origami.
