Hi there! My name is Martin and I can't remember a certain 12-part origami. every square of paper is folded the same, at last they're joined together to form a sort of spiked ball... and if you only take 6 of those pieces, you can make a cube. even only 3 is possible, then it becomes some sort of pyramid (?). I was once able to do it and on the search for an instruction for this model, I came upon your site. just googled "origami forum", w/o the quotes.

so, can anyone please help me? I'll go on trying meanwhile...

edit: sorry, just found the sticky post with the links. I can't look at every single model right now, gotta go to work now. so, in the meantime, if you find anything: please post it!

Sounds like the Sonobe Unit.

I think you might be thinking of the "spike ball". Is this what you were thinking of? It's one of my favorites for folding on bus rides since it's so simple.

I remembered it after all...
you never turn the paper over, you only fold on one side. first, you fold it in half, along the sides, so you have 2 rectangles. then again, so you now have 4 squares. then you fold 2 sides to the middle, so you have 8 rectangles... from here I'm blank as how to explain it. but you go on folding until you have 2 isoscele triangles that together form a diamond shape. and if you have 3 of them, they can be joined together to form a 6sided "double pyramid" (for lack of a better expression)... 6 can make a cube, and 12 make this spiky ball I mentioned in the OP...

And you are sure it is not the Sonobe Unit?
