does anyone know a good owl diagram or cp?

depends on your definition of "good"...

For me the best is Katsuta Kyohei's, I have the crease pattern posted on my blog a few posts ago with a some photos of the collapsing procces, check them if you want-by the way this is kinda more complex than Lang's night hunter, it needs more shaping.

The diagram for Katusta Kyohei's is found in tanteidan 17.
it has a rather simple folding sequence to get the base, but the shaping kills me every time.

I made it once, but I was going fast on the shaping, and his head kinda ended up on his back...
i've been to lazy to make it again, but eventually, I will.

Yeah you're truly right-I was not thinking at the simpler version, definitely better working with a diagram than a CP, but notice they are different models! Structure is similar but different from the other two (the one whose Cp is on a Tanteidan, and the one that was shown in OUSA's convention 2008, I think)

The tanteidan one i believe is updated.
Artur folded the old one from the cp, and it looks completely different form the tanteidan one. the tanteidan one is cleaner, i guess you could say.

it's worth noting that kyohei has at least two owls. the second is the blaskisten's fish owl, which has a more complex head grafted onto the other's body.

I published a flying owl (sort of, about the Owl, not the flying) in one of the OUSA convention programs.

Well thank you all i think i'll try to start folding Katsuta's owls if i ever get a copy of the new tanteidan :)and maybe i'll attempt Robert Lang's owls sometime in the near future.

Selection, colour,& texture of paper will be important , mostly after your first trial fold results in an unholy mutilation...
Probably applies to all complex or near-complex folds.
ie: Don't use origamido paper for first fledgling attempt .
