Dollar Bill Origami

I have been asked over and over again to teach people so, reluctantly I have decided to start a blog and teach people for free the basics of Orikane.

I was taught the art of Orikane, about 5 years ago by one of the true masters and since have gone on to make many a unique fold. This site is still patchy but we are experimenting with the best ways to relay instructions for Dollar Bill Origami before we begin.

I hope you like it and value all comments so we can continue to grow the site and reward our subscribers with more greatfolds goodies and secret techniques.

That site has a lot of potential-really cool. I have done some dollar bill folding-I posted in the other topic. I have plenty of pictures of my folded models that I would be willing to let you use. Also, I have some (rather unclear) diagrams of one of those works. I am not much of a diagrammer, but I may start diagramming more in the future...

in my personal opinion money folds are nearly complete useless. of course people are surprised by what you can do with a bill, but giving away a folded bill is somehow... lets say counterproductive. you give money because you don't know what to buy or the presentee needs the money. but in a way that's mean, because the folded bill can not be easily spent without destroying the folded model. and thats the crux... keeping the model or spending the money. I started using the money to decorate a model folded from "normal" paper (e.g. an angel with money in it's hands), so the presentee can keep the model AND spend the money.

Interesting Views. to me and many others I know, Orikane isnt about the value of the note, its about the delicate unique folds that the patterns allow.

if it was really only that, you could use "normal" bill-sized papier with the right patterns printed onto it. that would even be more effective and way cheaper
