Hello I am new here. I have been doing origami for close to 2 decades now. I am at an intermediate level. Lately my passion has been 3d origami.

I have found tow great sources for origami videos, UTube and /www.wonderhowto.com.

I am lookig for like mined people to talk to about origami, to exchange ideas and just to shoot the breeze.

Where I currently live there is are few people who have the same interests as I, so this forum may be what I am looking for.

Nice to have you on board.

Could you please specify a little bit closer what you mean by 3d Origami?

Welcome folder42!
This is the PERFECT site for you! I am very glad you joined us, especially with the experience you have with origami 8) . Please feel free to share ideas as will other people will too :D .
I will suggest a couple of origami youtube channels here:
1. Adams Sara's Channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/AdamsSara
2. Torself's Channel with a few Star Wars models, shark, and some planes here: http://www.youtube.com/user/torself

If you have experience with crease patterns, Robert Lang's site is pretty good with lots of 3D origami : http://www.langorigami.com/

P.S.- I've only been folding for about 5 years, and probably between the beginner and intermediate level of origami. I have folded the Omega Star, the K. Rose, the origami firework, Jeff Beynon's Spring into Action, Chinese lucky stars, the Star Wars Destroyer Droid, the Star Wars A-Wing, paper planes (mostly jet planes), the butterfly ball, and a kusadama ball.

Enjoy! :D

3d origami are made up of many many triangle units, folded from rectangle pieces. I have made a swan, pineapple, owl, cat and currently a panda bear, in this manner.

If some one could tell me how to post pics on this forum, I could show you what htey look like.

I have tried some Star Wars figs, but the only one i like at all is the bantha.

You first have to upload your pictures to a hoster (picassa or flickr etc.).
After that you can post the link where the picture is stored on the forum with a button named "Img".

Welcome on board by the way :-)

Welcome to the forums. Sorry it did not upload as an image just a link. When you are posting there is a preview button. You can use that to see if it will be posted. The buttons may seem overwhelming at first, but they become very natural after a while.

Welcome to the forum :) . That module is popularly called the "Golden Venture" Unit (link to information). You might like the sonobe unit as well, it can be used to create some neat figures.
