Introducing myself: my Velociraptor

Hi all,
I am a 26 (27, at the end of the month) years old italian origamist, and I think the best way to introduce myself is showing you my works. I start by my favourite, a Velociraptor.

Here, the complete model:

This is the head, where you can see eyes, mouth, teeth and tongue:

And finally, in one single shot, hands and feet:

I really hope you like it.

Edit: here, you can find the diagrams.

It's good, but I don't think you could have chosen a worse paper to fold it from.

It was the only I had, in that moment. Anyway, the paper was very thin, no problem in folding...

Ooooh, do you plan on making diagrams for your velociraptor? I'd love to fold it myself! :D

I still don't know, this is a second version, and there may be other changes...

Wow! You did an awesome job with the proportions throughout the model. I absolutely love the way you shaped the arms. As for the paper, I don't see a problem with it. As long as it folds well, any paper is fair game!

If you are planning to improve upon your velociraptor, I would suggest adding some teeth. You could use Fumiaki Kawahata's method in his T-Rex. He added a strip graft and used the extra paper to form a stretched flap at the corner of the paper that would form the head. To make teeth from that flap, all you need to do is pleat it a few times and make some reverse folds. Again, this is just a random idea - your model looks great just the way it is (that tongue is wicked!) Great work! :D

Always the pessimist, eh?

I think it's fine how it is, adding a strip graft for teeth would put too many layers in the head/neck, and it would look bad.

I guess I understated how much I like it.

It is great. Good proportions, nice balance and sense of life. I think the tail could stand to be a bit longer, and yeah, those lines on the paper majorly mar its appearance.

I would not add teeth. If you were going to add anything, I would suggest wings and feathers for the tail, since that is our current model of a velociraptor...

I must confess that this model is made by two square uncut papers, that's why I would like to make some changes... It would be great for me if I could make it using one single square paper. Little suggest to fold it: the model is based for both parts (front and back) on crane base, with a little variations for head, hands and feet...

i would have to disagree with the feathers and wings, while scientists think that is more anatomicaly correct i personally think it looks ridiculus.
Nice model though i wish i could design that well :)

I have decided to draw diagrams. You can find it at this address:

Unfortunately, RapidShare allows to download a file only 10 times. If somebody wishes to upload this file on his own website, please contact me on PM. These diagrams can be used as you wish, according to copyright laws.

Hmmm, it looks good, and I couldn't even tell that it was from two sheets!

You should try designing it from one sheet of paper..... ....then it would be almost perfect :D:D

I also like the pose of the model :) very nice :)

Why it should be from one sheet?

Damn...it's already been downloaded 10 times. I guess I'll have to wait untill it becomes public or something...
