I'm from Amsterdam NL and started only recently with origami. Before that I was making polyhedra paper models by cutting and glueing and am somehow intrigued by the beauty of the building stones of our universe as we know it.
From that point I found the book 3-D Geometric Origami by Gurkewitz and Arnstein. I I also found Molecular Origami by Hanson.
Because I wanted to make a lampshade I discovered the world of Origami Tesselations. Wow! I've made the first 4 models from Eric Gjerdes' book. Now I'm sort of stuck on the 5th, 3.6.3.6. Paper keeps tearing or crumbling.

I suppose it's a matter of practice and finding stronger paper. Ages ago had MMushrooms on a vacation to Switzerland gathered by locals. After that (maybe as a result from brain damage) I tend to see geometric models everywhere. It was an interesting experience, but not to be repeated. There are loads of books on Sacred Geometry, but I don't see what so sacred about it. It's rather a fact of life as life is sacred.
I hope to learn from you all and at some point when I have more knowledge, to share.
