First 5 crease patterns

Post by Harpseal »

Your fist 5 crease patterns: what were they? This topic is to give advice to readers and other members who are yet to start crease patterning and need a bit of advice of a sort that giving advice directly wouln't help with anything, so to help a beginner, just put down your first 5-10 crease patterns (or as many as you can if you haven't done that many, like me.).

Here are my first three (my only three, although I am starting a fourth);

1.Peacock (http://origamitips.giladnaor.com/2009/0 ... om-cp.html)

2.Laprus pokemon

3.Drowzee pokemon

I put a link for the peacock because there is more than one peacock

I've only folded 2 cps, which are:

1, wolf I forgot wich one, but there is a link to the cp somewhere on this forum.
2, bahamut bl-satoshi kamiya. I know, a big jump, but it didn't turn out too good, parts of it were crumpled and I didn't get the references right for some parts.

Eric Joisel's Dwarf
Eric Joisel's Self Made Man
Satoshi Kamiya Ryujin 1.2
Katsuta Kyohei Spider
Hoang Trung Thanh Angel 3.0
Ak827 Lion

All of them turned out pretty good, except the angel by Hoang Trung Thanh, I wasn't able of making the details correctly.

I know my first one was the scythe by Eileen Tan.
My second one was Noboru Miyajima's Chinese dragon. His CPs are fairly simple to understand.
I can't remember the next three, but they were probably on Origami Design.

Hmmm, I think the first one I ever folded was Kamiya's Phoenix 3.5...but that was using a progressive cp i found somewhere on the forum...and it didn't turn out too well. I folded it a second time using thicker paper and it turned out great then.
2. Tadashimori's scorpion
3. Kamiya's angel
4. Kamiya's ryujin 2.1 (only the head)
5. Currently trying to make Joel Cooper's Mask Study 2, reverse-engineered by Andrew Hudson
Yeah, a couple large jumps...I tend to be pretty gung-ho when it comes to making origami...

If it's just mountain and valley folds, how hard could it be?

My first CP was Jon Tucker's Centerfold at the 2010 convention. Since then (I can't remember which order), I've done Satoshi's Phoenix 3.5 and Bahamut BL. I haven't gotten good paper yet, but I've pretty much figured out his Bahamut Zero and Ryujin 2.1.
After the fall, we rise.

Right when I started origami I worshiped Satoshi Kamiya and would try to do his designs justice despite them only being available from crease patterns.

I don't recall which model was first, but these are some of the early ones I remember:

Inoshishigami 1999
Angel 2000
Deinonychus
Sleipnir
Ancient Dragon type 2
Wizard 2002

Mine first ones were:
Spike tessellation (by spiritofcats)
Dwarf (Eric Joisel)
Peacock
Ron Resch pattern
Toshikazu Kawasaki's Frog (a friend of mine has the book and he didn't want to borrow me the book, so he made me a CP)

My third and fourth which I am working on now is the water strider by Robert Lang, and the flying kabutomushi by Shuki Kato.

I just collapsed my first base from cp! Robert Lang's water strider. I did it as a test fold from kami, which is a little to thick and floppy. But now that I see how it goes, I will refold it from nicer paper and shape it up.

Next I want to do the horse by H.T. Quyet, which isn't box pleated, therefore, much more difficult.
