What have you folded lately?

That balrog looks great! If I could fold cp's I'd really like to fold it sometimes.

oh and VHLT, what paper did you use for the ircarus? It looks a lot like the paper Hojyo Takashi used himself. I really like the neutral grey colour, and it looks really thin and good for shaping as well. (judging by the fact that your icarus is absolutely perfect

)

Damn tanteidan, sneakishly publishing awesome diagrams everywhere without telling me!

This summer I'll work full-time for a couple of weeks and buy lots of tanteidan books and magazines

I also really need to get Hojyo Takashi's Icarus and Violin player.

Ant by Robert J. Lang from 21cm x 21cm copy paper

Even though there are many models by Robert J. Lang which are just a big frustration to fold, from time to time I stumble upon models by him which are really nice and interesting to fold. There's f.e. his murex shell and also this ant.

In case you are wondering about the paper, it really is black copy paper. It has the same folding qualities as normal (white) copy paper, maybe a tiny bit stiffer. I found it in a stationery shop yesterday and was really surprised, because so far I have only found black paper that was far too thick to be suitable for folding.

i got my first official origami paper today,94 6in by 6in squares 65 assorted solid colors,25 sheets printed chiyogami pattern paper, and 4 sheets of foil paper now i will have beautiful creations

PHIL,the effect you've obtained with the balrog(about the colour...)is voluntarily??
i have the feeling that you have "gluing" one sheet of red tissue-paper with one sheet of yellow tissue-paper(with MC of course

) to obtain this effect,am i right??

in all the case i like your way of folding it's often(always)clean,good choice of colour etc...

Thanks kaerusan. You are right I used MC to glue red and yellow tissue-paper together to achive the effect.

Hehe, I was wondering the same. Funny thing is that they have all the usual notes on the package that the paper is suitable for copy machines, laser printers and inkjet printers.

and Ronald Koh's Black Rhinoceros usind 30x30 wrapping paper

I've folded some models from Origami Insects I.

Hercules giant beetle by Seiji Nishikawa from 15cm x 15cm Japanese foil

A very nice (almost easy) model. I like the colour-change on it.

Long horned beetle by Seiji Nishikawa from 15cm x 15cm Japanese foil

In this model you will get to a step where you have the body and the 6 legs finished, and have two large flaps which you can use to form the head in many different ways. The next model in the book is a Stag Beetle using this same principle and I'm sure you can use it to get a lot of different beetles.

Golden ringed dragonfly by Fumiaki Kawahata from 25cm x 25cm Kami

The way the colour-changes on the tail are done is really interesting and definitely reuseable for other models.
