Ah, so that's why you never post any pictures :-P

Sorry, but I completely disagree with you on that point. Calling a model "horrible" is just what it takes to make people quit Origami. If you don't like the way a model looks you should rather give some hints on how to make it better or at least tell what you don't like instead of calling it trash....
So long and keep folding ^_^

About Gerwin's idea:
If you (or anyone) post your design for inspiring others I think no problem with quality of model. Especially, if you post some text which explaining the idea.
But post very known model of famos author which is crumpled, from used office paper etc., I really do not like it and I mean that it is something like offence of the author.
Different situation is, if the folder post first attempt and show to others than he folded it (fe. some very hard complex model) and after several days he post final precise version form nice paper etc.

Absolutely. I work on each model very long and hard and if I do not reach certain level of quality which I rate as enough to publish, I never publish it. Maybe this is also reason, why I do not fold complex model. Only in special situations.

If model is crumpled I think it is clearly visible what is necessary to improve. And hint? Fold it for several times and would like to fold it in better way.
I know that many people would like just to fold it and it is all (how to explain? I hope you know, what I mean). In my "lessons" I have an endeavour to lead my "students" to precise and nice work on models, not only fold it.

We are all, always one step away from perfection in anything we do.

The important thing about showing what we fold is how different they turn out.

And yes it is very important to learn how to fold- not just to follow diagrams to produce onerous piles of scrap!

I am really impressed by the VOG posts and have no problem with their self advertising of their group

Got my copy of Dragons, Witches etc by Netto and Voyer today, upto step 75 of 170 of the wizard on a dragon! (this includes several "repeat steps 11-28 etc on other three flaps")
Maybe will never finish it- then again, I may, in about a week- then again may start again with another bit of paper, may even put a photo up, if I'm happy with it.

Perhaps we all need to get out more

Ondrej.Cibulka:

You may be a perfectionist. But many people definately are not. They do origami for fun. The diversity of folders and their respective skills is really good for the lovers of this art. There are those who do not fold on a regular basis and others make a living with origami. With all that, it is only natural that there are (not too skilled) beginners and there are real tallented folders. By doing their best they will achieve different results: some will produce so-so models, others will produce beautiful almost perfect results. I believe the best for everyone - skill level aside - is that everybody does their best and encourage the others. If someone posts a picture of a not so well folded model and is happy with it, no one is going to benefit from discouraging, criticizing that person.

It is good for you that you always strive for perfection. I myself am always trying to improve.

You don´t need to. Your designs are very nice, especially the crocodile baby (that one is really cute :D ).
Thanks for editing your posts. It´s not that we have anything against VOG, but it´s a little annoying to read it everywhere and now you are member of "The Origami Forum" too, just keep that in mind.

It is very nice to have you on board, keep on the good work!
