Finally squeezed out my first completed insect model, The flying samurai helmet beetle by Jun Maekawa, Genuine Origami. Figured this would be a good time to start my gallery, enjoy!

I forget exactly where I had found the diagrams for this one, probably origami resource center, but this next penguin (from maekawa's Genuine Origami) is by far my favorite penguin model yet



I need to learn to fold a tiny egg so he can hold that on his feet.

That's a nice penguin! There's some volume, an aesthetically odd volume.

gods no! lol. the butterfly I believe is one of Michael Lafosse's designs and the other is from one of the convention books, I'll have to check that title when I get back home. Both done using double tissue. and the lucanus beetle thingie took a few 'modifications' and alterations to shape it just right. And shamefully, I superglued a smidge where I put my bonefolder right through the crease in the back Chalk that one up to learning experience I guess.

My fold of Satoshi Kamiya's Eagle Ray, had a couple folds throw me for a loop but I was able to get the final squash into position without what i'm hoping was just precreasing so aside from horrific gills, it turned out nice, and one of my new favorite designs. Folded from black double tissue paper.

this was a test of using this holographic tissue wrap I found at the dollar store, it worked nicely so I may try out a few of the colored holographic wrap.

folded by me from a 8.5" square of tracing paper.
I did wind up having to skip a few steps, such as the final reverse folds and sink on the toes, and some of the reverses on the wing tips but for a first time 'completing' it, could've been worse. Also had a heck of a time thinning the legs towards the end, even with the MC and paper clips, so went with 'close enough' . I'll fold a nicer, larger model once my thinner tracing paper roll shows up in the mail.

actually that's the Papagimp Aquarium in my bedroom. It's nice to stare at the tank and relax when my relaxing origami starts to frustrate me
