I've recently created a tutorial for making MC treated tissues if anyone is interested. I've only done this for gift tissues but I think it should work similarly with handmade tissues. The method is probably not the only way to go about it, but it has been working very well for me. If you give it a try let me know how it goes.

Nice guide. I already made some MC treated paper but I can't find decent non-bleeding tissue paper. Everytime when I want to make double colour paper it fails and the colours get mixed.

Just to be sure, natrium-carboxylmethylcellulose is ok, right?
Also, in this topic someone said that it could be used for tissue foil as well?

Does anyone know what form the methyl cellulose should be? Like as in glue, or liquid, or powder, etc. Sara Adams has a video suggesting plaster. Also, where can I purchase (my hardware store doesn't have it, but I will try a different one this week)? Does the tissue paper have to be high quality. Thanks!

Just wondering, MC is for "sealing" together two pieces of tissue paper to fold models like ancient dragon, wizard, etc, right?
Thanks!

You can get it in liquid or powder... in liquid form, it is usually sold as "wallpaper paste" or something similar to that name, except that stuff isn't archival. if you buy the higher quality powder form, then it is archival and usually vermin proof.

and no, the tissue paper does not have to be high quality, I use the normal gift wrapping tissue you can get a bunch of for a few dollars at walmart, you just need to use a very, very soft paintbrush with it or it will rip to shreds.

and yes, that is one use for it, but it has other uses. one could be dyeing paper, usually done with japanese paper to make it have another colour besides white. the main use, though, if for resizing or sizing papers (like tissue paper) that is too thin and floppy just to use alone.

Does "Wallpaper and Border Paste" work?
More info:
Adhesion level: medium to high
Adhesive Product Type: Glue/Epoxy
It Dries Clear
It is able to be dissolved
It also says that it is recommended for Drywall.

What ingredients does the mixture have to have?
What ingredients can it NOT have?

Would this be a suitable paper for tessellations? I'm making my way through the Gjerde's tessellations book and I'd like to try making them with more translucent paper.

Double tissue is mainly good for complex models, i do not know how good it would be for tesselations, because depending on how you make it, it can be very hard to reverse a fold. However, it is a pretty translucent paper, and it would look wonderful backlit!

If it's just mountain and valley folds, how hard could it be?

What is the difference between cellulose and methyl cellulose? I recently bought Pritt papier mache paste, and it says ph neutral cellulose on the packet, would it still work?

Well I do know that it mostly doesn't say ''methyl cellulose'' when it cointains MC. I bought a pack of CMC which looked exactly like yours (different brand though) and while it said ''cellulose'' on the packet, I got to the ingredient list on their site and it contained CMC. If it looks like MC it should be fine.

I bought some wallpaper paste with no ingredients list on it. I couldn't find out the ingredients online either, but it was the only wallpaper paste on the shelf.
I took two pieces of tissue paper, layed them on top of each other on a glass table, and brushed on a diluted mixture of the paste and water. The tissue paper was really wrinkled (I used it to test this paste). After brushing on the paste, I waited 12 hours. My results: The tissue papers stuck to each other, but it also stuck to the table. It took a very long time just to get a bit of it off. The top was like sandpaper, and the bottom was smooth and resistant EXACTLY like wax paper. Watching Sara Adams video on making double tissue, she peels the whole sheet off in like 2 seconds. I spent 15 minutes getting one square inch off. :? Any help? Also, Can I use just one sheet of tissue paper for models like Kamiya Satoshi's Phoenix, Ancient Dragon, Wizard, and Cyclommatus Metallifer.

You could try a acrylic/plexiglass sheet instead of glass. Also, elmer's art paste is MC, you can get it on amazon. One box will make something like 50 sheets of 19" dtmc...
