Aaaand done! http://www.flickr.com/photos/gaberosiak/6984682314/ Great model, guys. Unfortunately, I didn't realize how brittle my paper was.
Oh well. Just gives me a reason to fold it again in the future.
Any more suggestions, folks?

Re: What To Fold
If you have a super thin paper, I recommend Satoshi Kamiya's ancient dragon
It probably won't look nice on the first try though, so be warned. Or you could do Lang's tarantula (insects 2), or any other complex bug

I posted this above as 42 INCHES, but I meant centimeters. I own most of the popular origami books, so any suggestion is welcome.

Re: What To Fold
I've got lots of tissue foil in lots of different colours up to 45cm and I'm looking for something complex that dosen't involve a lot of precreasing.
Re: What To Fold
I'm with you dude. Precreasing SUCKS. I recommend Lang's tarantula. His scorpion is good too, but has a lot of precreasing.
Re: What To Fold
Size: 30 by 30 cm
Colour: slightly transparent
Thickness: reasonably thin.
Type: non stick baking paper.
Difficulty: medium/complex to complex.

Re: What To Fold
Hey, all paper is slightly transparent! Is this the normal way of paper transparency or a different one? Satoshi's mammoth prignathus (or whatever it's called) might be good. For that model, the recommended size is 35 cm (i think) but if your paper's transparent in the normal way (really thin) it'll do fine or better. This is the first time i've answered a request so it has probably flopped, but, if you fold it, i would love to see it!

Re: What To Fold
Maybe a little " clarification" might be helpful.
Most paper is somewhat opaque, in that one cannot see objects through it, nor does it pass an appreciable amount of light, essentially is more dense .
There really is no transparent paper .
To qualify as transparent, light & images would have to be readily observed through it, much like the result of looking through thin, clear plastic such as saran wrap or polyvinyl film.
It is not completey transparent, but far closer than opaque or translucent paper.
That leaves us with papers such as tissue paper, vellum and parchment paper ( baking paper) as well as some other very thin ( of lessor density) papers .
They would qualify as translucent .
By the way, parchment paper comes in rolls, generally of 12 inch and 14 inch sizes .
There are also individual , more expensive , higher quality parchment papers. They oftentimes are more dense, not quite as useful for folding complex models.
Overall, thin parchment paper is nicely crisp, folds well, and the actual translucency depends on the brand or type of parchment obtained. It does vary somewhat .
I hope that this helps a little.

Re: What To Fold
More transparent than regular paper - you can see clearly defined objects through it. It's Glad non - stick baking paper.

So did i flop a bit, or a lot?

Re: What To Fold
4 ft by 4 ft
Red on one side, white on the other.
A step or two above kami, label on the package doesn't say.
"Fadeless" bulletin board paper
Any difficulty, would prefer something diagrammed though.
Any help here? I'm looking for something that does very well with such a large size of paper.
