Paper is a large part of how well you can fold an origami piece, but your skill and artistry also matters (probably more) so even (no offense) if you had the right paper to fold ryu jin, you still might not be able to fold it

The 1.2 works well in A3 printer paper.
I made a test out of printer paper first, before i made the display model out of nicer stuff.

No offense taken. I know I am not the best folder and I only took up origami for the applications to math.
But my issue was never stated to be the paper.

I folded a sword(my design) in front of my friend a few days back, he went something like "OMG thats so cool "and he was like "teach me"
I taught him an now he wants to learn more, Just now he folded the magic ball, It took him like the whole day but he did it!
Non Folders converted count- 1
Everyone in my class is also folding butterflys, but i wouldnt call them coverted.
1 of my friends was even patient enough to watch between the folds!

I´ve taken a walk in the morning on 1st january; when my son fell asleep, I went to the waiting area of the railway station I´m living near and continued my fold of quentin´s shark. on another table three japanese people were sitting, taking their breakfast and waiting for their train. obviously they noticed my folding, because:

when they left, they gave me a folded traditional crane :-)

I was folding my Dragon model earlier to kill some time at an event with my brother's Cub Scout pack, and a bunch of people noticed it and said it was cool. Then someone bought it off me for $5. Can't complain. xD

Someone bought 2 Last waltzes of me for 50$ the other day. I guess that's a good reaction.

Recently, I had to make a Christmas star for a nativity play. I layered four four point stars, two bigger ones, and two shiny smaller ones in the middle. It slightly outclassed all the other props, and no one belived me when I said it was paper. I managed to convince some people without having to unfold it, They were amazed to say the least.

I often get asked whether I can make a "wicked" paper plane - I usually answer "sure, engines, cockpit, pilot, landing gear faithfully recreated but it doesn't fly for sh!t"

...or they trot out a poorly folded model and expect me to praise the handiwork

...or if I am lucky they show me a new model (that I have not folded) and offer to teach it to me in exchange for teaching them something ridiculously outside their skill level
I fold therefore I am.

I get that too!
I showed someone a model a few days ago, and they looked at it suspiciously. Then they asked me; is that origami?
I said yes.
Are you addicted to origami?
Not really .
Can I have that?
