Crane
I designed this about 2 weeks ago but didn't upload a picture...
The only bird I have designed was my peacock and that was like half a year ago so I felt like it was time to design another bird. Folded by me from a 45cm square of paper and it has a wingspan of 30cm. Its boxpleated on a grid of 48 however the wings use transition units and go into 96.
I am very happy with the way this worked out, especially the wings! hope you like it
Scorpion
A refold of an old design of mine... this is the only design of mine that I have folded twice. Folded from a 25cm square of tissue foil. Boxpleated on a grid of 52. I wasn't sure how well this would work out but it exceeded all expectations. Cp is here: www.flickr.com/photos/langko/7655034510/in/photostream/
Hope you like it
Metamorphosis
Not my greatest design ever but i still wanted to show my efforts...
Folded from 1 uncut 50cm square of tissue foil. Boxpleated on a grid of 48. This is supposed to represent the 3stages in a butterflies life. Caterpillar (right), Cocoon (middle), Butterfly (left). This is something quite different to what you normally see done so I hope you like it!
The chrysalis could use some work. But other than that, it looks neat. Maybe colour-change the chrysalis as well, then add more geometry to it much like the caterpillar.
Thanks very much for comment and advice. I agree with you. I designed it in about 5 mins and wasn't sure if it would even work. This was more or less a test fold and I didn't put much thought into the model. The is definitely a model that will have a version 2 sometime in the future
Chrysalises are indeed beautiful; some even are metallic all the way through.
I'd say TRY the colour change on the chrysalis and see how it looks, it's not like it's going to kill you to see how it looks.
