Looks like JOAS will be selling old back issues (pre issue 55) of the Tanteidan Newsletter at the Tanteidan convention this year. They are trying to clear up space in their headquarters. Sounds like they might be as cheap as $1 per issue...

Mine arrived in the mail today. I have to say, I don't quite understand the accusation of bias. I would more accuse them of having totally random selections in the international section. I pretty avidly surf flickr for new designers, and I've not seen anything from Hadi Tahir or Fabiana Sanapanya, and I don't think other people have, either. So I don't see how JOAS is "biased" towards famous people.
That said, I like this collection much more than last year, which had too many insects, for my tastes.

Yeah, two insects out of +- 50 models is way too much of coursebethnor wrote:I like this collection much more than last year, which had too many insects, for my tastes.

yes, as far as i'm concerned. there is a fourth anthology of complex insects out now, more than that if one wishes to include all of sirgo's books. i get it, people can design things with lots of thin appendages. i, on the other hand, really have so much super thin paper that is invincible. notably, there are only two books with super complex dinosaurs, just as a point of comparison, and none of super complex birds. many anthologies of the former depict physiologically incorrect dinosaurs. if the JOAS skips having insects once in a while, that wouldn't be a crime, IMHO.

You're right, I see your point now.
