NYC Looking for paper.

Post by chesscuber98 »

My dad is travelling to NYC in a month. Could you suggest where in NYC could he find good paper and what paper he should buy. I have heard of Muji Times square for Kami. Also I think OUSA delivers tax free within NYC. So are there other places? Is there some special paper i shouldnt miss?
thanks in advance.

So I live about an hour outside NYC (I live on long island so whenever our family goes out of state, we have to travel through NYC. To tell you the truth, there's actually a LOT of paper stores there. Never been inside one sadly.... My advice for you would to have you google "NYC paper stores" and alot will come up. Dick Blick ( a FANTASTIC art store) has countless sheets of unryu, banana, mango, sekishu, and all kinds of art papers. It's one of the biggest art stores in the country! I know that they dont sell just paper (paints, canvases, and a trillion different art supplies) but their papers have alot of variety in colors. I would recommend them and just explore google a bit to find what kinds of papers you would like.

I BEG you to have your dad explore some stationery shops if he has the time. Most of the time, these stores contain Jewels (amazing papers) that they dont show online. Usually the NYC paper stores or stationery shops dont have the best websites so if he has the time, please ask him to go inside and look around.

Or maybe Chinatown?

Hope I helped ^^
I would rather fail trying than fail without trying....

Woah Thanks! You see the problem is that i am not the one going there, its my dad, and he doesn't know a thing about paper nor does he have the time or patience. So I need names. Since you told me about "Dick Blick" I will surely ask him to check it out. Thanks again!

New York Central Art Supply is another good option, and has a catalog available: http://www.nycentralart.com/pages/paper.
