I wouldn't say that is a new method, but I may be wrong.

This uses what looks like a similar method to what you are doing. Is it?

Yes I just realized that it is technically my method except im pretty sure that that version can make much more limits on what u can do. Maybe my version is a little better (idk for sure though). Ill try to post diagrams and u can tell me which one u think is better

Um... I don't think it's new either. I think you just "re-discovered" the technique, and thought of a few more ways to use it. This same concept that some people use to make letters and spell words with it. But good job for re-discovering it

Yes actually I invented a city and a park once. I might make a large city today or tomorrow. It'll have skyscrapers, a pool, a park, and many other things. Ill post pictures when im done.

Good job on discovering this technique! It's going to be hard for you to be sure what you've got is original until you spend years looking at other peoples' design methods in books or online diagrams- follow lots of people on flickr to see what's out there.

Anyway, what makes your work original is what you do with your technique- I've raised objects from a flat plane myself, like in this chocolate box-

Yes, Box-Pleating molecules have a lot of potential. The method may not be new, but your usage of it probably is. At least I haven't heard of anyone folding a city and park from it. You should definitely check out the work of Andrew Hudson and Natan López. They did some amazing things using box-pleating molecules, including not only houses but organic things like humans and fishes.

I believe that some of Satoshi Kamiya's models are boxpleated. His site is in Japanese: http://www.folders.jp/ but you can use Google to translate. His models and books are easy to locate via Google.

Well, there is a difference between boxpleating and box-pleating-molecules. The molecules are like tiles that can be included in a large tessellation like structure, giving you the possibility to build whole cities from a large enough sheet, whereas usual boxpleating is used to fold single models that are closed up in themselves.

Hello guys again! I've emailed Robert Lang again about the "new" box pleating method, and how its not new but i pushed the boundaries. and he still wants to see the diagrams! Im going to send him the basic ones. Please wish me luck guys!
