Re: What age did you start folding?
Thank you. I don't know what golden venture is.
I am working my way through "Teach Yourself Origami (both editions) by Montroll and another book by Lang. I have also done some modulars. I just discovered Sara Adams on YouTube and I am going to try some of her pieces.

Golden venture is that kind of ''origami'' where you fold thousands of little triangles and then assemble them into figures like swans or other animals. It's very easy but quite boring because you fold the same module over and over. By some it isn't even considered origami.

30, with the pack of origami paper I'd been given years before. Wish I'd started back then!

Re: What age did you start folding?
I started at age 4 when I happened upon this little beauty
the book that started it all... by origamifreak64, on Flickr
I spent all day trying to fold the traditional cup... and I failed miserably. I wasted an entire pack of origami paper on that damned thing
origami cup (my first attempt at origami) by origamifreak64, on Flickr
I did not accept defeat, however, and tried a different model instead
Car (my first succesful origami) by origamifreak64, on Flickr
the second I finished folding this car, I knew that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life... 14 years later, I am now 18, and I have this book to thank for what I can do

Re: What age did you start folding?
Dec 30, 2012.
Saw the book Bug Wars- Origami Masters in my Amazon suggestions, ordered it because it looked cool. Found out that this is not a book for beginners. So I am working on becoming advanced.
This is my new special interest, I am folding almost every day. Have also already spent quite some money on paper and other Origami stuff.
Awesome!

I started 13 years ago, when I was just 5 years old.
Be who you are, do things because you want to do them, and stop caring what others think. Then you'll be happy.

Re: What age did you start folding?
Oh, I didn't tell my story.
When I was just about 6-7 years old, my parent's taught me how to fold a plane and a boat. I found them extremely hard and failed them! Next day, I tried again and after like eight wasted copy papers, I finally made both of them.
Then on the next year, I was streaming through YouTube and decided to go for a quick search of how to make paper airplane. Then I stumbled upon a tutorial for a cute jumping frog. It was named, "how to make an Origami Jumping Frog". I thought, "It can jump!" Then I tried it and I did it at my first try, amazingly! I showed my mom and she was very impressed! Then I searched more models with the name "Origami". And I saw Akira Yoshizawa's Butterfly taught by Rob's World. I tried but failed so I made other stuff taught by Rob's World. And then the passion grew and I found Jo Nakshima's amazing tutorials + Tadashi Mori. So basically, Jo Naashima, Tadashi Mori and Rob's World were the ones who started what I'm doing right now and will do forever. And so, I still watch their channel because they owe my Origami life.
