Too bad about the coconut crab. I'm still working on mine though.

Also, I'm about to start work on this:

EDIT: Looks like it's been done, but not according to the drawing I linked above.

Animals that haven't been done yet. Cockatiel, conure, Indian ringneck, maybe African Grey Parrots haven't been made yet?

Yes, I am a bird person.
Ouch! Are you okay? Well...let's see.. advanced box-pleating techniques, Satoshi Kamiya, yeah I'm good. If you fall down nine times get up ten times.

Not to revive an old thread, but does anyone know of a model anything like the pin-tailed whydah?

This thread needed riviving! I have not had the inspiration too fold something new for months and missed the start of ODT 2017. On topic, the bird you mentioned I have not seen. There is a bird that looks a lot like this one in this topic somewhere. Scissortale something..

Page 3 sciccor tailed fly catcher. But your bird has even more tail feathers!
Reminds me of some of the variations of kamiya's phoenix with 3 tails.

How about Pink cockatoo, Cuban tody, I'iwi, 'Akohekohe, Marvelous Spatuletail, Golden Pheasant, Vermillion flycatcher, splendid fairy-wren, Ivory-billed and Imperial woodpeckers, Bermuda Petrel, Mountain Quail, and Arctic Tern? Smew is still the coolest. (Yes, I am a bird person as well.)

These obscure animals are great, but what about mixing up two (or more) commonly designed animals?
When I first saw the title of this thread, these images were the first things I thought of:

Would anybody be interested in designing something like this?

I cannot think of many folders who have tried this. There is a folder which goes by the alias MadFolder who has quite a few models that fit this concept.

Here is his Flickr.

My three favourites folders in this genre are Manuel Diego Alvarez...
Kenny Baclawski
Juan Sebastian Landeta
They all seen to know which sites to find unrecorded species and have originals that are not to hard to follow..
I'm waiting for someone to fold Russian dinosaurs Or or Bugs found near Mt Etna..
Some species are worldwide but knowing which photographers and sites show the most local variety...
This is the reality of knowing the mileage of your paper

Ok, not an animal per se, but: Audrey II from "Little Shop of Horrors," complete with spiky leaves and teeth!
