Re: monthly folding challenge june 2015
I folded a model of the inside of an obsidian cave that has no exits.
Folded from "chaos black" origamido paper.
Photographed (with flash set to off) after the model passed the event horizon of a black hole.

I imagine a "Darth Vader" might be folded for this challenge - so I went a slightly different way. Presenting:
"Dark Helmut" from "Space Balls" - the Mel Brooks movie.
A little (more) Dark Humor to get things started.

Thinking of darkness it immediately come to my mind "death". So, I conceived this character to personify my idea.

JAPC, they remind me a lot like Vastos Lordes from Bleach. Pretty cool.

Re: monthly folding challenge june 2015
I wish I would've read this earlier, because now I have an idea for a group of models. They wouldn't be done by the end of the month, though, otherwise I'd likely submit the set (the Guardians of the Beams from the Dark Tower series)

A recent model I designed as a personal challenge this month, but would likely work: Medusa

Dark Helmut - Part 2
"I can't Breath in this"
The Face, Faceplate and Helmet could all be folded from 1 sheet (very long rectangle) but would have to be refolded to change from the Faceplate to the face view. You would not need a base to stabilize the Face. The glasses would still need to be a separate fold.
This "Flip-Up" version consists of the fold consists of the following parts:
Face (White) - I rectangle
FacePlate (Black) - 1 Square
Helmut (Black) - 1 Square
Base to stabilize the Face when the Face Plate is flipped up (Black) - 1 square
Glasses - 1 very long-thin rectangle
