Re: Need help with Robert Lang's Hummingbird
Hello Oz,
many thanks for the pictures. I almost did the same and had more or less the same result,
but I was struggling on on the flaps. I see in the book that it shows 3 flaps to open for the tail.
From your pictures I also see only 3 flaps. On is just the corner to open a bit more and the other one is open completely. So there suppose to be 2 only?
Cheer,

The tail is all connected, so you effectively pull on the flap you folded in step 28. When you flatten, just make sure to crease along the diagonal. Here's the creases for the tail and a short video showing me do it. (Keep in mind I've already folded this once, so the creases are already in the tail.)
This is a link to the video.
Hopefully this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Oz,
this is a great angle to see everything, especially the short videoclip!
Many thanks! That really helped a lot!
I will try to fold the hummingbird this weekend and post the result in here...

Re: Need help with Robert Lang's Hummingbird
Hi all..
after a short break, I tried the hummingbird again....what happened? I failed again...
This bird doesnt seem to be so complex, but how come it is so difficult to get a close result to robert lang?
btw, I also saw a version, where the bird has two legs... I believe that version is not published (yet), isnt it?

Make sure you are using the right paper. The best way to get the round belly is to use tissue foil or sandwich paper, that worked well for me. Idk anything about this legged hummingbird, are you sure it’s Lang’s?

Re: Need help with Robert Lang's Hummingbird
The best way to get the rounded belly is probably to use somewhat thicker paper and wet-shape the model. Tissue foil isn’t forgiving, and it would rip easily in the tail.

probably it is a modified version of Robert Lang‘s Hummingbird.
Re: Need help with Robert Lang's Hummingbird
Ahm, that's Robert Langs Homepage I've been linking to and it is his model, no variation that someone made of his hummingbird but his own creation.

You talking about red-throated or does he have a normal one?

I dont know how many versions of this humming bird exist, bur I noticed that one version has some legs included. If I see the Robert Lang‘s version, he doesnt display any legs.

Re: Need help with Robert Lang's Hummingbird
It didn't have any legs when I checked. I'll have to check and refold the model, when I checked it seemed like it wouldn't be too much of a challenge, personally.
