Working area

I want to animate people to place images of they origami working area.

I start

My books aprox 80 books

My working area, with cutter, MC, and some figures.

Some paper(Mulberry,lokta,ingres,canson,etc...)

And where i store paper.

All I have is a desk... not very exciting... not exciting enough for a picture

Awesome collection of books!

I wish I had a big enough table to fold on.

Me, I have to start folding on the floor, then move up to my small desk once the model becomes small/manageable enough.

i have a plastic tray full of paper and a book called "incredible cross sections" which is quite large and good for a knee-top desk.

*snerk* my working space is generally the cramped fold out tables you get in Economy class on airplanes, or restaurant tables. . . . this past weekend I was folding on the floor as I was teaching the jumping frog version I know (I like it much better than the traditional, as it jumps 6-12 feet) and a butterfly (also not the traditional) to the 4-5 children who came to my families housewarming party.

As far as books. . . . . I have about 15-20 books that I memorize stuff off of, with children I usually use John Montroll's _Easy Origami_

giro, you're workspace is very clean... I am able to keep my house clean excpet when it comes to paper

There is paper everywhere in my house!

Giro, did you clean your working space just to take those pictures?
As soon as I get one camera I might take some picures of my working space. Lots of wires (my other projects) and papers (the origami thing)

Yes, i clean a little my working place to take photo. Normaly this is full of paper, and a cat on it.

Wires?¿? You make wire figures? I want to learn to make wire figures.

No no! Sorry! I have wires on my working space because I´m a computer engineering student. I work with some small hardware projects and the wires are needed! I think I will clean the space before the photo! hehehe. I will cheat

So we've decided to enhance our Origami room a bit.

Here's the ever-growing-still-too-small library including several unsorted, printed instructions.

Next to it a glass plate for preparing mc-treated paper.

Behind the table with the glass plate is a self-made storage for squares up to 35 cm. It consists of 16 drawers made from wooden boards and slats (customely cut to fit into the existing shelves) and tons of nails. We couldn't find any pre-made systems like that, all of them are made for A4 paper only which is too small for larger squares. So we decided to make one ourselves.

Further to the left you'll find a nice way to misuse Ikea-furniture. The PAX wardrobe system has the nice complement of trouser hangers which are just perfect for hanging larger sheets of paper over it.

The trouser hangers can also be pulled out for easier browsing. Most of the paper in there is tissue paper for back-coating or making tissue foil and some nicer papers like lokta or mulberry paper.

Next to the paper-wardrobe a cardboard-box for rolls of various kinds of gift wrap etc. In the small table there's a drawer box for A4-sized paper.

The small table is perfect for cutting paper to squares. The cutting mats and templates are stored at the bottom of the paper-wardrobe.

And no Origami room would be complete without a guardian watching over everything

My origami workspace: When I'm with my parents I have a sheet of glass (that used to be a sliding glass cabinet door I rescued from the garage.), a cardtable on which to put the sheet of glass, a couple of the cardboard squares from origami paper packs (35 cm, 25 cm, 15 cm) to use as templates, some nice (unryu, lokta, glassine) and really expensive (gampi, kozo) paper rolled up and on the floor. Random pre-packaged paper scattered all about, and a box of my mom's old tissue paper.

When I move back up to Santa Barbara for school I'm not sure what I'll be taking, as I'm sharing a room with two other guys. Probably just the pre-packaged paper, some glassine, and maybe I'll make a stock of double MC tissue paper before I go.

Hi, I'd like to know more about these papers. Some of them looks like the paper I have seen used by Kamiya... Is made by you? or do you buy it?
